Job Description


Title:     General Services:  Maintenance – Tradesman / Non-Technical.



                Full time @ Facility Support, Maintenance and Transportation.  12 months per year, 40 hour work week, and 8 hour work day.


Job Summary:

                This individual will be responsible for reporting to the VCSC General Services located at 3250 Maple Avenue for the work day.  Upon arrival, instructions / work requests will be disseminated by the Director or their designee.  Work requests herein refer to jobs at various schools and school corporation facilities in need of completion.


Duties / Responsibilities:

                General Carpentry

                General Plumbing

                Ceiling Tile and Ceiling Tile Grid Work

                General Flooring:  Repairs and installation to include ceramic, vct and carpeting.

                General Painting

                Light Demolition

                HVAC:  To assist – technical

                Electrical:  To assist – technical

                Locksmith / Door Hardware

                Playground Equipment

                Other duties assigned by the Director of Facilities or his Designee

Minimum Job Requirements:

                High School Diploma or GED

                Valid Indiana Driver’s License – CDL preferred but not required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

                Ability to drive and operate vans, pick-up trucks, box/delivery trucks, fork lifts and pallet jacks.

                Ability to lift and manage 50-75 lbs.

                Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce applicable safety procedures.

                Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with school and administration personnel.

                Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Conditions for Employment:

                Possession of a valid Indiana Driver’s License

                Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

                This position is represented by a bargaining unit and is subject to agreed terms.
